Limiting beliefs can seriously hinder our spiritual growth and fulfillment. These beliefs can be deeply ingrained in our minds and often stem from negative experiences, societal expectations, or personal failures. However, as people of faith, we can draw on our spiritual resources to overcome these limiting beliefs and embrace a more positive, fulfilling outlook on life.
First, we need to recognize them for what they are. We may have grown up with beliefs that we are not good enough, not talented enough, or not worthy of love and acceptance. These beliefs can become so ingrained that we accept them as truths, and they hold us back from reaching our full potential. We can and should turn to the Word as the basis for Truth and guidance in recognizing and challenging these beliefs.
It is not just about believing the Word. If you worry about the situation, you really don’t believe what God says about it. Why are you worried about your finances if God says He provides for your needs? When you think about your finances and have peace, you will know that you believe that God will provide for your needs and the belief has taken root in your heart and mind.
I recently heard that about 85% of what we worry about, never happens! That is a lot of wasted negative energy.
We are told to take every thought captive. I also believe that if I am worried, I need to ask myself and the Lord, why am I feeling this way and expect Him to answer. Once I can address and deal with the root of my emotions, my feelings not be the driver for the decisions I make and beliefs I hold.
Ultimately, overcoming limiting beliefs is a journey that requires recognizing the wrong belief, patience, and persistence. Once you begin to actively work on this in your mind and emotions, you will have more peace and be able to make more powerful decisions.
